An extract from Ruth Starke’s novel NIPS XI is included in Macmillan Education Australia’s 2014 English curriculum textbook.

Kristin Weidenbach‘s picture book Tom the Outback Mailman was the feature title of the children’s book area at the Clunes Booktown Festival 2014. Kristin was interviewed at the festival on channel 7’s Sunrise program on Sunday morning. The children’s area included props from the book and several illustrations reproduced from the book on giant panels. Check out the telecast here.

Janeen Brian’s picture-poetry book, Our Village in the Sky, illustrated by Anne Spudvilas and published by Allen& Unwin, is now released. The poems are based on observations when Janeen lived for a month during summer in a remote village in the region of Spiti, in the Himalayan Mountains. Readings and signing at Collins Booksellers Edwardstown on Saturday, 2nd August at 1pm. Janeen has also produced text for the Nursery dance performance for babies. Check the blog about Stage 1 of its development on her Facebook page or website. Nursery opened its season in Brisbane at ‘Out of the Box’, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre Festival for Children under 8, in June-July 2014.
