Katrina Germein has developed a new website in response to requests from aspiring picture book authors living in regional areas.The newly launched Writers’ Quilt website is a space for picture book writers to focus on their craft. It’s a place to consider story ideas, revise drafts and contemplate paths to publication. Also on the Writers’ Quilt website is information about online picture book writing workshops. Katrina also has two poems accepted for a SA children’s anthology called Tadpoles in the Torrens, to be edited by Jude Aquilina and published by Wakefield Press.
Rosanne Hawke’s new novel, ‘The Messenger Bird’ will be launched by Amy T. Matthews in the Ira Raymond Room, Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide on Wednesday 7 March at 6 p.m. Featuring Celtic fiddler, Jeri Foreman.

The shortlists for the 2012 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature have been announced. Rosanne Hawke’s Taj and the Great Camel Trek is shortlisted for the Children’s Literature Award and D. M. Cornish‘s Factotum (third book of the Monster Blood Tattoo series) and Vikki Wakefield‘s All I Ever Wanted have been shortlisted for the inaugural YA Fiction Award. Winners will be announced Saturday 3 March, by South Australian Premier, the Hon Jay Weatherill, in a presentation at the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden in Adelaide during Adelaide Writers’ Week which is held as part of the Adelaide Festival.
