A moonbeam, a book birthday and other wacky stuff…

The Five Senses of Love illustrated by Claire Richards has won the Picture Book Bronze Award at the 2011 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards in Michigan.

Ben Chandler’s Beast Child: Volume Two of the Voyages of the Flying Dragon was published by Random House Australia in September.

Janeen Brian, Katrina Germein, Rosanne Hawke, Sally Heinrich, Elizabeth Hutchins, Jane Jolly, Ruth Starke and Margie Hann-Syme all have books included in Literature to support the Australian Curriculum: annotated lists of fiction and poetry by Fran Knight (Pledger Consulting, 2011). Janeen Brian will speak at the launch of the anthologyof The Wacky Sticky Soaky Flowy Thing, a collaborative arts program between SA Water, the State Library of SA and the Art Gallery of SA in the State Library on Sunday 16 October, 2011. She also conducted the water-themed poetry workshops for participating schools.

Janeen Brian won a copy of award-winning poet, Lorraine Marwood’s new anthology, Note on the Door, for her poem, Letter-box note. View the poem on Janeen’s website (poetry).

Rebecca Burton, Rosanne Hawke and Malcolm Walker will be speaking at the Friends of the University of Adelaide Library, Thursday 27th October, on ‘Crossing Boundaries in Young Adult Literature’.

Rosanne Hawke will be speaking at a conference in Kapunda, Sunday 30th October, called ‘Writing for Pleasure and Profit’.

Sean Williams is a guest at the World Fantasy Convention in San Diego. On October 26, he will be signing books and participating in a ‘Meet the Author’ session at Barnes and Noble, Oceanside, California.

Vikki Wakefield’s debut novel All I Ever Wanted is reviewed in the October issue of Australian Book Review.
